Conjuring cards from Vienna

This pack was printed in 1920 by Ferd. Piatnik & Söhne in Vienna for the Klingl Magic shop. The maker's name is shown on the Ace of Hearts (not shown here).

The cards show a modernized version of the Vienna pattern designed around 1913.

On first sight the cards look completely normal, but the special thing about them is that they were inteded for conjuring: The backs of all cards show cards, too, and there is one card that has a back on both sides. The fifth row shows the backs of the row above it.

The wrapper of the pack has a closure from 1920, but there are many more stamps on it, so that it has certainly been sold later. The name of the pack is below the closure. It may have been 'Karten für Taschenspieler', cards for prestidigitators.
