Krussigs Skatkalender-Karten (Krussig's Skat Calendar cards)

This is one of five sheets of miniature cards that were in the 1906 edition of

They were intended for documenting 'interessante Spiele' (interesting games), plates were available to do that:

The card sheets are prepared to be cut and sticked onto the plates.

These are sized-down cards, the cards in the original size were made by Gustav Thieme Nachfolger in Leipzig. The maker's name is on the Eight of Hearts. On the Deuce of Acorns is 'G. T.', the initials of the maker. The pack is named 'Extra feine Stahlstich Karte', it is a pack with the single-faced Saxon pattern. This name is also found on the Deuce of Acorns. The pack is special because most of the pip cards do not show the usual scenes but pictures of towns and landscapes. Here the cards are not in steel engraving but in lithography. The size of the sheet is only 7.2 x 8.6 cm.

In the bottom row I show four cards from the normal size pack. However, these are not from my collection but from my picture archive.
