This pack has been produced by Friedrich Selwig in Braunschweig (Brunswick) around 1865. The maker's name is on the Jack of Clubs.

The pack shows a pattern that was used with minor variations by several German makers at that time. You can see an earlier version of this pack as Whist pack from Braunschweig (2). The tax stamp on the Ace of Hearts was used in Braunschweig from 1858 to around 1874.

A child put index signs onto the cards, and you will note that the Jack of Spades has King index signs.
