These cards were designed c.1920 by Hans Nolpa (1878 - 1930). His initials are on all cards.

These are two sheets which were one sheet originally, most probably a page in a magazine. At the bottom of the sheet was the text 'HANS NOLPA - Spielkarten'. I have arranged the cards like it is usual on these web pages, the original layout is shown in the bottom row.

There are texts on the Deuces as comments:

Acorns	Eifersucht sei verflucht.  (Jealousy be damned.)
Leaves	Bei Freud bei Leid, trink Wein allzeit.  (With joy or sorrow, always drink wine.)
Hearts	Lieb bringt Freud - Lieb bringt Leid.  (Love brings joy - love brings sorrow.)
Bells	Verlust - Gewinn, nimm beides hin.  (Loss - gain, accept both.)

I do not think that the designs have been published as proper playing-cards. Note that the size of a single card is only 53 x 31 mm.
