In 1893, Chas. Goodall & Son, London, produced a pack showing characters from Shakespeare's plays. The maker's name is on each Ace.

The Aces also have the name of the play and a symbolic representation on them. The court cards show characters from the play (named here in the order King, Queen, Jack):

Clubs:	'King Lear' with King Lear, Cordelia, and Edmund
Spades:	'Julius Caesar' with Julius Caesar, Calphurnia (Calpurnia), and Brutus
Hearts:	'Henry VIII' with Henry VIII, Katherine, and Wolsey
Diamonds:	'Henry V' with Henry V, Kate, and Falstaff
