Playing-Card Tax Stamps from Norway

This stamp was in use in Norway from 1847 to 1869.
It shows the Norwegian coat-of-arms.

This stamp was in use in Norway from 1870 to 1890.
The text is 'KORT STEMPEL', and the double '1' is the stamp number.

This stamp was in use in Norway from 1891 to 1910.
The text is 'KORT-STEMPEL'. The stamp number here is '33' (for Bergen).

This stamp was in use in Norway from 1910 to c. 1930.
The text is again 'KORT-STEMPEL', but the crown differs, and the coat of arms has a different form. The stamp number is '1' again.

These are stamps that were in use c. 1930 to c. 1950.
The text is always 'KORT-STEMPEL' and 'Nr. 1', but the crown and the shield look a bit different on each of them.
(right stamp scanned by Christian de Ryck)

This stamp was in use in the 1950s.
The text is 'Kgl. Finans- og Tolldepartement' and 'Spillkortavgift'.

This stamp was in use in the 1960s.
The text is 'STEMPELAVGIFT'.

This stamp was also in use in the 1960s.
The text is again 'STEMPELAVGIFT', but the coat-of-arms seems to have a slightly different design.

This stamp was in use in the 1960s and 1970.
The text is again 'STEMPELAVGIFT', but the coat-of-arms is smaller.

The stamp was normally on the Ace of Spades, but I have seen an illustration of a Norwegian tax stamp on an Ace of Hearts.

Tax on playing-cards was abandoned in Norway in 1975.
