In Chile, tax bands were used to seal the packages.

The three bands above were used for imported cards, presumably around 1920. The value is 20 centavos on each. On the left part is the name of the importer ('NOMBRE DEL IMPORTADOR'), and on the right a registration number ('NUMERO DEL REJISTRO'). Note that the bands are all slightly different, compare e.g. the ornaments around the text 'NAIPES'.

This is a set of bands that was presumably used later. They were all used on one pack, which results in a value of 45 Pesos. (from a scan by Michael Zolno)
